ST. PATRICK'S DAY MARSHMALLOW & STARS TREATS
If you're looking for a quick, easy St. Paddy's Day treat, look no further:
This treat has four ingredients with two that it to a whole other level: condensed milk and browned butter!
YOU WILL NEED:
- 9 cups of Millville Marshmallows and Stars cereal
- 1 bag (10 ounces) of mini marshmallows
- 12 tablespoons (3/4 cup) of melted butter
- 1/2 cup of condensed milk
- optional: vanilla
- optional: sea salt
RECIPE:
- Lightly spray or butter up a 9x13 pan.
- Pop your butter into a large pot and melt over medium heat. To brown your butter, let it start to bubble and "foam". Your butter should pretty quickly darken to a nice, brown color. It's not burnt, I promise. Browning the butter gives this treat a nice flavor that some describe as "nutty" but personally, I think it just tastes like toasted butter. Okay. Yeah. That was an even more terrible analogy. Just try it.
- Pour your mini marshmallows into the melted brown butter and stir until the marshmallows have melted.
- Add your 1/2 cup of condensed milk into the butter/marshmallow mixture. At first, it's going to look like it's separating but try using a whisk to get them to mix together easier. Optional: mix in your vanilla and/or salt (personally, I measure with my heart for these).
- Once combined, turn off the heat and mix in your cereal. Make sure that everything is well mixed and that all the cereal is covered.
- Pour your marshmallow cereal mixture into your buttered pan and gently press into it to create an even surface. Don't over press. You can use a greased spatula or a piece of parchment paper to press everything down.
- Allow the treats to settle for about an hour.
- Enjoy!
